Benalmadena Beach #1 – Torre Bermeja Beach

Torre Bermeja Beach is Benalmaden’s most family friendly beach offering a wide range of family oriented activities and services. If you feel adventurous and in the mood for an action packed day on the water you can hire out a boat, jet ski or ocean kayak or better still why not try your hand at windsurfing or sailing and create a memory your family will cherish forever. Or if you are more inclined to keep the family on the beach then you can utilize the permanently set up beach football park (complete with goalposts) or volleyball nets, to build a lively family atmosphere for hours of fun in the sun.

As well as the many activities your family will enjoy on Torre Bermeja Beach there is also access to a huge range of amenities and public services including:

beach bars

restaurants

car parking facilities

disabled persons facilities

childrens play park

fishing

hammocks

Benalmadena Beach #2 – Playa Santa Ana Beach

The Playa Santa Ana Beach is the next beach along from the Torro Bermeja Beach, with the two beaches being separated by a long man made rock wall (also known as an artificial dyke). Playa Santa Ana Beach is considered one of the most popular and comfortable beaches frequented by locals and tourists alike.

The Playa Santa Ana Beach is one of the busiest of the Benalmadena Beaches especially during the high season, being awarded a Blue Flag in 2002. This is because it is so easy to reach by car, bus or on foot. Playa Santa Ana offers tourists the opportunity to meet and mingle with other like minded tourists whilst enjoying a fun day in the sun relaxing in the ocean water. Playa Santa Ana offers visitors a huge range of physical activities to participate in including volleyball, windsurfing, sailing and fishing. If relaxation is more your style then there is also a lazy beach bar and beach bed and sunshades for you to unwind under, just lay back and enjoy your ice cold margarita’s.

Along with all of these activities in which you can partake, Playa Santa Ana Beach also offers access to a range of other amenities and public services including:

beach bars and restaurants

access to Red Cross for emergencies

Benalmadena Beach #3 – Arroyo de la Miel Beach

The Arroyo de la Miel Beach has forged a reputation as the ultimate Benalmadena Beach for serious swimmers who feel the urge to exercise or train whilst on holiday. The beach is named Arroyo de la Miel Beach due to its location at the base of the Arroyo de la Miel village.

As well as catering toward serious swimmers due to its length and subtle swell break, Arroyo de la Miel Beach also caters to the romantic couple because of it’s long beachfront promenade. The long promenade runs the whole way along the beach connecting the port to the marina and can offer one of the most romantic moonlit walks available to honeymooners and couples alike.

The beach is located between the Castle of Bil-Bil and the Black End and unites the two high towers (Mayte I and Maite II). The Arroyo de la Miel Beach offers a range of equipment and services for beach goers including:

showers and public toilets

beach umbrellas, shade, hammocks and beach seats

disabled person facilities

car parking areas

volleyball nets

windsurfing

boat hire

fishing equipment

Arroyo de la Miel Beach Information

Beach Length: Medium – 1400 meters
Beach Width: Small – 20 meter average
Beach Composition: Middle Gray Sand derived from mussel shells
Beach Swell: Moderate

Benalmadena Beach #4 – Torrevieja beach

The Torrevijia Beach is one of the more popular Benalmadena Beaches due to its close proximity to the Torrequebrada hotel. Because of this proximity you will find that this beach is heavily populated by tourists and is a good spot to meet fellow travelers and tourists.

The beach is quite large and spacious allowing visitors additional privacy and room making for a more comfortable beach visit if your not into packing onto a beach like sardines in a can. The sand is courser than regular beach sand as it is gravel and shell based, however this can feel amazing between your toes due to its slightly rough nature.

The Torrevieja beach has a number of services and beach accessories that can be accessed by beach visitors. These amenities include:

fishing equipment

public toilets and showers

great conditions for diving and snorkeling

beach umbrellas, hammocks, shade and beach beds

sailing

windsurfing

car parking facilities

Torrevieja Beach Information

Beach Length: Small – 240 meters
Beach Width: Small – 15 meter average
Beach Composition: Gray Sand, Gravel, Pebble and Rocks
Beach Swell: Moderate

Benalmadena Beach #5 – Las Yucas Beach

The Las Yucas Beach of Benalmadena has gained a reputation as one of the less pleasant beaches within the region. The reason why is twofold…firstly it is a very small narrow beach made up mainly of stones and gravel, and secondly one end of the beach is frequented by nudists. However if this is your cup of tea then this beach may suit you to the ground.

One of the more positive aspects of Las Yucas Beach is that it is quite possibly the best area for diving, fishing and snorkeling due to its location next to a number of underwater reefs and rockfaces. This benalmadena beach is also easily accessed by car and bus making it one of the more popular rocksport beaches within the Benalmadena area.

On the whole Las Yucas Beach has less equipment and general services when compared to the other Benalmadena Beaches. However it does have access to a number of pieces of equipment for those brave beach goers:

umbrellas and hammocks

car parking areas

fishing and diving equipment

Las Yucas Beach Information

Beach Length: Small – 120 meters
Beach Width: Very Small – 4 meter average
Beach Composition: Gray Sand, Gravel, Pebble and Rocks
Beach Swell: Moderate

Benalmadena Beach #6 – Las Viborillas Beach

The Las Viborillas Beach is most probably the busiest of all the Benalmadena Beaches. You will love this beach if you enjoy having plenty of people around you and want to mingle with other tourists. However if this does not appeal to you, I would recommend staying away from the Las Viborillas Beach.

One of the reasons Las Viborillas Beach is so popular is because unlike many of the other Benalmadena beaches this beach is surrounded by loads of luscious green vegetation, trees and grass, making this one of the most truly picturesque benalmadena beaches.

One point to consider when thinking about visiting this beach is that it is frequented by some nudists. Nudism is not considered as offensive in most European countries but if it will offend you or your young family then this beach will not be for you. If you do choose to visit the Las Viborillas Beach then you will have access to the following facilities and equipment:

beachside restaurant and bars

umbrella’s, shade cloths and hammocks

car parking area

sailing and fishing equipment

public toilets and showers

Las Viborillas Beach Information

Beach Length: Small – 150 meters
Beach Width: Moderate – 30 meter average
Beach Composition: Fine Sand
Beach Swell: Moderate

Benalmadena Beach #7 – Arroyo Hondo Beach

The Arroyo Hondo Beach is a beautiful stretch of beach located between the La Viborilla Beach and the Torremuelle Beach. Compared to the other beaches in the area the Arroyo Hondo Beach is much quieter and offers fewer facilities, so is an ideal retreat away from the hustle and bustle of other busier touristy beaches.

During the mid and low holiday seasons this beach is almost unpopulated making it one of the most beautiful and tranquil retreats located within the Benalmadena region. The strip of beach is very easily accessed by following highway N-340 and is more commonly referred to by locals as the Hotel Costa Azul Beach.

Because of its penchant as being a very quiet unvisited beach, Arroyo Hondo Beach offers little in the way of touristy services. What it does provide is:

showers

umbrellas and hammocks

parking areas

fishing equipment

Arroyo Hondo Beach Information

Beach Length: Small – 660 meters
Beach Width: Moderate – 30 meter average
Beach Composition: Thick Rough Gray Sand
Beach Swell: Moderate

Benalmadena Beach #8 – Torremuelle Beach

The Torremuelle Beach is one of those beaches that you will either absolutely love or absolutely hate, it’s one saving grace either way you feel about it however is the beach bad called Paco. Everyone who has visited this beach says that this little gem is an absolute treasure and worth the adventure of visiting this beach alone.

Torremuelle Beach is situated between two urban development centers La Hidalga and Valdeconejos and is a typical gray sand beach. The reason why it is so unappealing to most is because it has very little nearby infrastructure and can get quite dirty depending on the local weather conditions. However if you are looking for an authentic Spanish adventure and are willing to venture off the beaten track, then this beach may be the ideal trek for you. Once you arrive at this secluded area you will definitely be rewarded by the awesome Paco Beach Bar. The decision is up to you!

The Torremuelle Beach can be located from the highway N-340, and is quite rocky and as mentioned earlier does not possess much infrastructure or equipment. What you can expect to find is:

showers

Paco Beach Bar

umbrellas and hammocks

fishing and diving areas

Torremuelle Beach Information

Beach Length: Small – 410 meters
Beach Width: Moderate – 30 meter average
Beach Composition: Course Gray Sand
Beach Swell: Moderate

Benalmadena Beach #9 – La Perla Beach

La Perla Beach is enclosed on both sides by large walls of stone that have been hand made. The beach is almost exclusively accessed by an apartment building that gives the beach its name…the La Perla Apartments. The La Perla Beach is generally much quieter than the other busier Benalmadna beaches, with most occupants coming from the aforementioned apartments.

Much like the Torremuelle Beach, La Perla Beach is not as popular as many of the other beaches due to it being less central than the other beaches and a little dirtier. However just as with Torremuelle Beach, if you are up for an adventure and willing to brave the unbeaten track then this beach may very well suit you and provide you with an absolute authentic Spanish experience.

Torremuelle Beach has very few services and equipment for visitors to the beach:

showers

visitors can practice diving and fishing

La Perla Beach Information

Beach Length: Small – 110 meters
Beach Width: Small – 10 meter average
Beach Composition: Course Gray Sand
Beach Swell: Moderate

Benalmadena Beach #10 – La Meorera Beach

La Morera Beach is a hugely popular beach with the local Benalmadena community and also serves a lot of locals who tend to camp out a lot and use the beach as a home from the elements. Because of this huge local influence and almost nomad type experience the beach can be very intimidating and is not recommended for the faint hearted.

Local large family groups can usually be found set up for the entire day and night cooking up and providing general entertainment for the large amount of children that are present. As such the beach is usually a buzzing hive of activity, from games of chase to makeshift frisbee there will always be something going on at this beach. If you are looking for seclusion and relaxation then this will not be the beach for you. However if you want a taste of traditional Andalusian family life then this may well be one of the best experiences of your life!

The quality of equipment and services at La Morera Beach is a little more used than at the other beaches due to the sheer volume of locals who use the beach. However you can expect to find:

showers and public toilets

umbrellas, hammocks and sun shades

car parking areas

diving and fishing equipment

La Morera Beach Information

Beach Length: Small – 260 meters
Beach Width: Small – 25 meter average
Beach Composition: Course Gray Sand
Beach Swell: Moderate

Benalmadena Beach #11 – Tajo de la Soga Beach

The Tajo de la Soga Beach is one of the most secluded, tranquil and romantic of all the Benalmadena beaches. It is quite a small beach and enjoys less patronage than the other beaches. However what it lacks in size it makes up for in atmosphere and elegance and is truly considered one of Benalmadena’s gems.

If you are looking for intimacy, peace and quiet or a relaxing spot to unwind out of the eyes of other tourists, then Tajo de la Soga Beach is the beach for you. The beach is also very conducive to rock fishing and diving, with underwater reefs and shelves housing a wide range of ocean fish species and beautiful underwater vegetation.

Accessing the beach is a little more difficult as it is a little of the beaten track however the outcome is well worth the effort. You can find the beach by following the highway N-340 from Fuengirola to Malaga. Because of its seclusion the beach does not provide any services to its visitors, as such if you do decide to visit this intimate beach make sure you pack plenty of fresh water, food and any other equipment vital to your survival in the case of unforeseen emergencies.

Tajo de la Soga Beach Information

Beach Length: Small – 260 meters
Beach Width: Small – 25 meter average
Beach Composition: Course Gray Sand
Beach Swell: Moderate

Benalmadena Beach #12 – Carvajal Beach

Carvajal Beach has often been voted as the most family friendly of all the Benalmadena beaches. It captivates family members of all ages with its constant hive of activity, always offering something going on. The Carvajal Beach offers a stark contrast between nature and urbanism with the beautiful beach frontage offset by many high rise buildings and other urban developments.

There is always something to do on Carvajal Beach, whether it be watersports such as windsurfing and sailing or a quick game of football or volleyball. All are welcome and you will usually always be able to join in and participate in an ongoing game with other friendly tourists and some local Andalusian folk.

Carvajal Beach is quite easily accessed by car or train and is just off the main A7 highway. Due to its popularity Carvajal Beach has a huge range of equipment and services available to its visitors including restaurants, bars and shops as well as:

showers and public toilets

umbrellas, hammocks, beach shades and beach chairs

car parking area

childrens facilities

windsurfing, sailing and fishing equipment

beach bars

disabled persons access

Carvajal Beach Information

Beach Length: Big – 1600 meters
Beach Width: Small – 20 meter average
Beach Composition: Fine Golden Sand
Beach Swell: Moderate
